Fishing Report For The Grand Strand Week of 4/21/24

Fishing Report for the Myrtle Beach Area

Date Range: April 21 - April 27, 2024

Weather Conditions: Anglers experienced varied weather conditions during the last week on the Grand Strand. The week started with air temperatures dropping back into the low 60s, and then slowly started to increase, providing ideal fishing conditions. We had some rain on Sunday and then saw no rain for the rest of the week, which led to some clear water towards the end of the week. Despite the weather fluctuations, Saturday stood out as a prime day for fishing, with temperatures reaching into the 70s and creating perfect conditions for anglers and those participating in the Flounder Tournament in Murrells Inlet.

Water Conditions: Throughout the week, water temperatures remained relatively stable around 66 degrees Fahrenheit. Water clarity varied from clear to slightly murky, with some spots experiencing cloudier water due to Sunday rain and wind. Anglers should anticipate continued fluctuations in water clarity, especially following periods of precipitation and strong winds.

Inshore Fishing: Inshore anglers continued to have success targeting speckled trout and red drum along marsh edges, tidal creeks, and near oyster beds. Live shrimp remained a popular bait choice, along with artificial lures such as Vudu shrimp, which was again our go-to lure all week. Unfortunately, I finally had to change my Vudu shrimp out for a new one after using the same lure since March! These things are tough! Reports indicate that flounder fishing remained productive; keeper-sized fish have been hard to come by for us, but people are catching them. Despite the smaller size, there is no shortage of flounder in Cherry Grove. The sheepshead have started moving back into the inlets from their reefs. We caught some this week and will be targeting them again, hoping that the numbers will continue to increase. Check out our past Sheepshead videos or blog posts to see some tips on how to target them! Our friend Chris from Deadcalm Outdoors reported he had another great week of fishing down in Murrells Inlet. He caught some nice redfish and flounder down there! Target those creek mouths or around the oyster beds.

**Nearshore Fishing:** Unfortunately no report for this week for nearshore fishing but I suspect things were similar from last week and will continue to get better!
