FISHING REPORT FOR THE GRAND STRAND WEEK OF 4/28/24
Fishing Report for the Myrtle Beach Area
Date Range: April 28 - May 4, 2024
Weather Conditions: Anglers experienced a fantastic week of weather here on the Grand Strand. The weather was very consistent with highs into the upper 70s or low 80s, providing ideal fishing conditions. It was really starting to feel like summer out there this week! April 28th was our pick of the week, we had a great day on the water fishing the canals down to the inlet and finished up with creeks. THE FLOUNDER ARE THICK OUT THERE!
Water Conditions: Throughout the week, water temperatures remained relatively stable around 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Water clarity was good this week with no rain and with “not so bad” winds it stayed clear. Anglers should anticipate continued fluctuations in water clarity, especially following periods of precipitation and strong winds.

Inshore Fishing: What a week we had up here in the Grand Stand, I was treated to being able to fish with my dad this week for the first time in probably a year. Always a good time being able to spend time fishing with your father, make sure you cherish the time on the water with family and friends it truly is something special. Now onto the report! Inshore anglers continued to have success targeting speckled trout and red drum along marsh edges, tidal creeks, and near oyster beds. Live shrimp remained a popular bait choice, along with artificial lures such as Vudu shrimp, which was again our go-to lure all week. With some strong tides this week, the key to flounder success was keeping those Vudu shrimp on the bottom! We picked up a nice Slot Red Drum in Cherry Grove working close to structure and grass lines. Heading into the creeks we were also seeing some chasing bait at low tides. Flounder numbers are still great with no shortage of action, you do need to weed through the shorts to find some quality fish though. The sheepshead have started moving back into the inlets from their reefs. I was hoping that after finding some sheepshead last week I would have some success this week with the high tides in the afternoon, but I was not seeing much and switched back to the flat fish! Our friend Chris from Deadcalm Outdoors reported he had another great week of fishing down in Murrells Inlet. He caught some nice Trout and flounder down there! Target those creek mouths or around the oyster beds.
**Nearshore Fishing:** Unfortunately no report for this week for nearshore fishing.
Fish of the week: This will be a new section that we will add in. Our friend and subscriber Buck caught this 27.5” flounder in Cherry Grove this week. What a SLAB! He was even kind enough to say what bait he was using. Big Shocker, it was a Vudu Shrimp. These things just flat-out catch fish and do so for weeks on end without getting picked apart.
If you have a catch to share or brag about, shoot it over to us at coastalcarolinaliving20@gmail.com we would love to feature it in the report!
If you are a guide or content creator that gets offshore and wants to send in a nearshore or offshore report, we are definitely looking for some help in that department, and again, feel free to reach out at coastalcarolinaliving20@gmail.com
